July 2020 Fidelis Letter from the President
Dear JWC family and friends,
When the Apostle Paul wrote his letter to the Philippians, he and his coworkers were facing great challenges in their first-century world. Today, we also are facing great challenges in our twenty-first century world. Yet, like Paul, we “press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
At John Witherspoon College, we are pressing on with the mission of providing Christ-centered, classical education for service to the church and the world. Yet due to the coronavirus pandemic, we had to finish the spring semester with online coursework. In May, we successfully hosted a graduation ceremony for our 2020 graduates and their families. In June, a few of our professors "team-taught" an in-person course, The Origin of the Bible. Now we are preparing for the fall semester beginning in August and are anticipating at least five more new students coming from North Carolina, Texas, Idaho, and South Dakota.
Alumni and friends like you make our mission possible. However, since we had to cancel our annual spring fundraising breakfast, we are left with a significant loss of revenue for JWC. In April, we hosted an online fundraising event called Generation Six Forty—and we are so grateful to all who responded. But as we look to begin the Fall Semester, the College still needs $35,000 to start the new academic year strong.
As God leads, would you consider an online gift to JWC at this time so the students and the College can press on?
Thank you for your prayers and support of the students at John Witherspoon College.
Gratefully yours in Christ,
Ronald Lewis
P.S. Please pray we may press on with eyes of faith and hope through these challenging times. Thank you.
