November 2021 Fidelis Letter from the President
Dear JWC family and friends,
“We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We recount your wonderous deeds” (Psalm 75:1 ESV).
Thanksgiving is a time to recount God’s wonderous deeds. This past week, after a long and rigorous process, the TRACS Commission approved JWC for Reaffirmation of Accreditation. As I mentioned before, this whole process has been a team effort involving faculty, staff, students, alumni, Trustees, and community people like you. Thank you for your prayers in this regard.
One major point I learned at the TRACS annual conference last week in St. Louis is that the U.S. Department of Education views national and regional accrediting agencies on the same level. In other words, there is no distinction whether an institution is nationally or regionally accredited. All must meet the same high standards. JWC has met those standards and for this we thank God.
We are thankful for our faculty, such as Dr. Matthew Minnick who teaches the Physical Science class (see below). We are thankful for the JWC students who come from near and far to further their education. Together, we look forward to our biannual Visio Dei Conference this weekend with the important topic of biblical counseling. I hope you can join us. For registration details and other information, please see below or check the College Website at jwc.edu.
This upcoming year, JWC celebrates its tenth anniversary year as a four-year, degree-granting, and nationally accredited college. Please join in celebrating the greatness of God in bringing us this far.
Again, thank you for your support and prayers for the ministry of John Witherspoon College in providing Christ-centered classical education for service to the church and the world.
Gratefully yours in Christ, Ronald Lewis President
THANKS BE TO GOD! JWC Granted Renewal of Accreditation from TRACS
President Ronald Lewis and Chief Academic Officer Ed Egbert traveled to St. Louis last week to appear before the TRACS Commission (Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools). On Tuesday, October 26, the TRACS Commission granted to John Witherspoon College Reaffirmation of Accreditation Category II, completing an 18-month-long rigorous process toward renewal. Soli Dei Gloria!
THANK YOU JWC FAMILY for supporting 10 Years of Christ-centered Learning!
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy — Philippians 1:3-4
5th Visio Dei Conference

After a break at 5:00pm, dinner will be served at 5:30pm, followed by two teaching sessions, concluding by 7:30pm. On Saturday, November 6, the "Biblical Counseling Boot Camp" will continue with a continental breakfast at 8:00am, with teaching sessions beginning at 8:30am and closing at Noon.
Visio Dei will be held at the JWC Campus, located at 4024 Sheridan Lake Road in Rapid City. Conference cost is $40 for adults, $10 for students and should be purchased in advance. The JWC Science students traveled to the Garnet Gold Claim on October 23rd to learn about gold placer deposits and Black Hills minerals. The students learned why placer gold occurs in the Black Hills and how to use the high specific gravity of gold to recover it via panning and sluicing. The students also learned about the regional geology, history of pegmatite mines, and how to identify metamorphic and pegmatite minerals.
If you would like to help "tell" our community about JWC, please drop by our campus to pick up your free "front adhesive" decal of our logo. Office hours are Monday-Thursday, 8-4pm. The campus is located at 4024 Sheridan Lake Road in Rapid City. The free decals are available on the kiosk downstairs.
Please share with others about JWC!
