Dear JWC family and friends,
Though classes are out, things have remained very busy at John Witherspoon College! If you
were to come by campus today, you would be greeted with boxes of books, supplies, and
operational materials; stacked bookshelves, and half-empty cubicles as we prepare for our
campus move.
As we move our campus, I’m reminded of Abraham’s journey of faith:
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to
receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.”
(Hebrews 11:8 ESV)
For some time, we felt like Abraham, knowing that God was guiding us into something great, but unsure of exactly where that would be. Thankfully, God has graciously brought us to an end of our search. While I cannot announce the new location just yet – we are waiting on final signatures, and will make a separate announcement as soon as possible – we are blessed to have a new campus next year! Hallelujah!
But while our search for a new campus has concluded successfully, I’m reminded of other verses from that same chapter of Hebrews:
“For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they had
been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.”
(Hebrews 11:14-16 ESV)
I’m reminded of these verses because while the search for a campus is over, we should never
stop searching for that place that God has designated for us. Already thinking about the Fall,
I’m saddened at how many Christian families will send their recent graduates to godless
campuses and anti-Christian schools. It is my prayer that they will be discerning and instead
seek out institutions like John Witherspoon College, where we both demand academic rigor
and cultivate Christian faith. Where fides quaerit intellectum – faith seeks understanding.
Our commitment to be academically strong, grounded in Christian faith, and affordable to keep our students free of debt is a difficult commitment. As we move to a new location this summer, please pray that the hearts and minds of young people will be moved to attend JWC for the glory of God.
